Why Our Skin Ages
One of the questions most asked with skin is does the skin on the face age faster than the skin on the rest of the body?
The answer is “No”. The reason why it seems as if the face ages faster than the rest is because of the way that we treat the face.
There are two types of aging: Intrinsic and Extrinsic.
Intrinsic is the aging of the skin due to the passing of time.
Extrinsic is (external) due to causes such as sunlight, air pollution, harsh detergents, rough treatment, cosmetics, and disease.
To fully understand the complete difference between the two, you need only look at the skin on your face versus the skin on your hips or thighs. Sun exposure is the number one culprit of extrinsic aging. The average 50 year old can distinctively see the difference to skin that has been exposed to sun for years to skin thats been protected by clothing.
The exposed skin is usually more wrinkled and discolored than the unexposed skin.
Conclusion: Our skin is precious and also very vulnerable to the elements. Protect your skin and only use creams that work and do the job. When you reach the age of 50, your skin cannot repair itself as fast as it once could when you were 12.
Remember this.
Why not take care of your skin now why you can?
